Insurance for Collections – Your Investment is safe with us

December 13, 2011 By James Leave a Comment

Insurnace for collectionsArranging Insurance for Collections can be a time consuming exercise having to make numerous phone calls or research various websites for a specialist in insurance for collections.

At Greenfield Insurance Services we have, since 1989, arranged insurance for collections ranging from art and antiques to dolls, sports memorabilia and telephone and pencil sharpener collections.

We understand that your collection is precious to you and has sentimental value attached to it. These collections are often built up over and kept for a lifetime with the hope of passing them onto future generations, or you maybe are the future generation now in possession of the collection.

Our aim is to find the most suitable insurance for collections cover for you. Dependent upon the size of your collection this may be a separate insurance for collections policy or could be included within high net worth home contents insurance cover.

Typically, collections below £250,000 in value will be arranged via the high net worth home contents insurance cover option. However your insurance for collections requirements will be discussed with you, in detail, ensuring the most suitable cover is arranged on your behalf.

Do I need to provide valuations or receipts for my insurance for collections cover?

Typically valuations are only required for individual items over £10,000 in value.

However we would recommend that you photograph your collection and catalogue each item. Purchase receipts and any valuations should be retained. It is also recommended that these items are either kept in a fire proof safe or off site away from your collection.

What documentation do I need to provide to obtain a quote and arrange cover for my insurance for collections?

Typically insurance for collections cover can be arranged without the need to provide any valuations or receipts upfront. However these are generally required within 45 days of arranging your insurance for collections policy.

What however I would point out is that in the event of a claim it is your responsibility as the policyholder to provide proof of ownership and replacement value for the lost items.
