What’s covered by a Business Equipment Insurance Policy?

Business Equipment Insurance will cover all your business equipment against accidental damage, theft, water damage, impact and a number of other eventualities.

Business Equipment Insurance can also be extended to cover items on a worldwide basis which would include items such as laptops. Business Equipment Insurance will also cover equipment at customers or suppliers premises if needed.

Business Equipment is typically defined as your business contents, computers, portable equipment, machinery, plant and tools of trade.

When calculating how much to insure for, you need to base your figures on the replacement cost as new of the item, even if you received a discount price or purchased the item on a second hand basis, the replacement as new cost is the figure insurers will expect you to use. If this calculation is incorrect and you have underinsured, you run the risk of your business equipment insurers applying average to your claim.
