Frost Damage – Check Your Home Post Thaw

January 30, 2013 By Christina Leave a Comment

frost damageCould your home be at risk from frost damage?

The big freeze may be over but the British weather shows little sign of any let up as winds and rain continue to batter homes & businesses throughout the country.  Hopefully your property has managed to survive unscathed but with the weather turning milder this week, now is the time to check your property for frost damage.

Cracks in pipes and plumbing joints may not be noticeable whilst the frozen water keeps them sealed but as it defrosts it could cause leaks and internal floods. These may start slowly at first – almost unseen – but could lead to devastating damage and disruption if not detected early on.

There are four checks you should make right now to check for any frost damage to your property.

Ageas Insurance Limited (Ageas), and the British Insurance Broker’s Association (BIBA) have put together a short guide to show you what to do.

Post Thaw, Check Once More
