London riots – be aware of the seven day insurance small print

August 9, 2011 By Stephen 1 Comment

London RiotsHaving watched the multitude of video footage of the London Riots and disturbances in other parts of the country, I cannot help but think of the total disruption to the lives of people who have lost property in the riots whether it be their homes or businesses.

It is essential to recover as quickly as possible from the London riots and put the London riots behind them.

Insurance companies are there to help the communities affected by the London riots rebuild their lives and in all fairness at times like this, the Insurance community is exemplary in the way it deals with claims settlement.

It is important to note that insurance policies cover riot and civil commotion such as we have seen in the London riots this week. However what you may not be aware of is that within your policy wording you are required to submit a full claim within seven days of the event.  Anybody suffering as a result of the London riots should contact their insurance broker or insurers immediately to register the claim and get the help and advice they need.

If you found this tip useful then please leave a reply below to give us your thoughts on the London riots or insurance claims.

I never realised that you had only 7 days to respond. Thanks Stephen, that’s a great tip!
